            Thank you for visiting the website of USA Taekwondo Association for the Disabled.  My name is Grandmaster Soon Pil Hong, Ph.D.  I am the President of the Pan-American Taekwondo Federation © for the Disabled (PATFD) (Disabled means Paralympics, Deaflympics, and Special Olympics) and the USA Taekwondo Association for the Disabled (USATAD) for all 50 states.


PATFD/USATAD is affiliated with Seoul State Taekwondo Association, members of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), and Kukkiwon.  PATFD/USATAD is also affiliated with Korea Taekwondo Association for the Disabled (Website: http://kotad.kosad.kr), which is an affiliated association of the Korea Sports Association for the Disabled (Para: Paralympic, Deaflympic, Special Olympics), which is officially recognized by the South Korean government and is a member of the International Paralympic Committee.  The Korea Taekwondo Association for the Disabled & Korea Sports Association for the Disabled appointed me as the Education Director for the Pan American Taekwondo Federation for the Disabled & for the USA Taekwondo Association for the Disabled.  Being an Education Director means that I am authorize to conduct Para Taekwondo International Referee/Coach Certification Seminars and Para Taekwondo Grandmaster/Master Instructor/Instructor Seminars (1st Dan/Degree through 9th Dan/Degree.  **Please see the picture of the Certificate below.**


We already have filled 25 USA State President Positions.  If you are interested in becoming a State Association President or Country Federation President (Example: Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Argentina, etc).  please contact us through this website.

Grandmaster Soon Pil Hong is the FIRST one in the world, outside of South Korea, to receive International Referee(Sparring/Poomsae-forms) 1st Class Certification from the Korea Taekwondo Association for the Disabled(KTAD). The KTAD is affiliated with the Korea Sports Association for the disabled, which is associated with/inspected by the South Korean Government and a member of the International Paralympic Committee.

  12. 1993 - WTF World Taekwondo Championship - Sparring Coach
  13. 1994 - WTF World Cup - International Taekwondo Referee - Sparring
  14. 1997 - Received International Referee of the Year at US Olympic Center
  15. 1999 - Received Best US National Taekwondo Sparring Team Training Coach for US Olympic Team Members
  16. 2004 - Kukkiwon Hanmadang - Coached 1st Place Middle School & High School Synchronized Poomsae/Forms
  17. 1989 thru 2006 - Served as Faculty Instructor for Physical Education/Life Fitness: Taekwondo & Habgido at Southwestern Michigan College (Dowagiac & Niles, Michigan) - 8 credits/4 years
  18. 2010 - Trained Korea National Poomsae (WTF Forms) Champion
  19. 2010 thru 2012 -  U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships (65 countries participated).  U.S. National Taekwondo Championships in San Jose, CA was one of them.  Sanctioned by USA Taekwondo - Taught Taegeuk IL Jang (White Belt Form) thru Hansoo (8th Degree Black Belt Form) WTF/Kukkiwon Poomsaes at various seminars - produced many US National Champions.  Black Belts, ranging from 1st Degree Black Belt to 9th Degree Black Belt came from all across the USA to attended the seminars.
  20. 2011 - Seoul State Taekwondo Association - was appointed International Technique Development Taekwondo Poomsae/Sparring for the Vice Chairman
  21. 2011 - Korea Junior Taekwondo Federation (associated with Korea Taekwondo Association) - was appointed as Korea Poomsae (forms) Referee Vice Chairman (Middle/High School)
  22. 2011 (June) - Instructed a Kukkiwon Poomsae (Master & Grandmaster Forms) Seminar in Atlanta, Georgia: Sanctioned by USA Taekwondo & Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters in south Korea.  The attendees were all 4th Degree thru 8th Degree Black Belts.
  23. 2013 (May) - Position of Referee Chairman during the US National Kukkiwon Cup in Albany, New York.  The Referee Vice Chairmen were: Master Kim Suk-Jung (PA), and Master Kim, Peter (OH).  The Event was sanctioned by USA Taekwondo (member of the United States Olympic Committee) and also was recognized by Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters in South Korea
  24. Honored with receiving Honorary Prosecutor & St. Joseph County Sheriff (Indiana State) Citation/Badge
  25. Interpreter & Translator for the 5th Judicial District Court (State of Michigan)
  26. Attended the University of Notre Dame R.O.T.C. (Notre Dame, Indiana)
  27. Awarded with 2 Army Achievement Medals
  28. Received Army Good Conduct Medal
  29. 1984 - US Army Boxing Champion
    2013 - The State of Michigan  appointed Grandmaster S.P. Hong as Physical Education Teacher for Elementary, Middle, and High School Students.


    Been affiliated with the World Mooye Federation (Seoul, South Korea) since 1968.  The President of the World Mooye Federation is Grandmaster Lee Byung-Chae, my Teacher, 9th Dan/Degree Black Belt.  The word "Mooye" covers all known Korean martial arts - Taekwondo, Habgido, Gumdo, and more.

USA Taekwondo Association for the Disabled (USATAD) and the Pan American Taekwondo Federation for the Disabled are both recognized by the Korea Taekwondo Association for the Disabled, which is affiliated with the Korea Paralympic Committee and a member of the International Paralympic Committee.  The USATAD/PATFD are not independent Paralympic organizations.

The USATAD and PATFD can offer the following:

1) Paralympics/Deaflympics/Special Olympics(forms) Special Needs Color Belts #1 (Il Jang) through #8 (Pahl Jang).  We also offer Special Needs Black Belt Poomsaes - Koryo, Geumgang, and Taebaeg.

2) International Referee Paralympic/Deaflympic/Special Olympic Hand Signals for Sparring.


3) Instructor/Master Instructor/Grandmaster Instructor Legal License for Abled & Disabled Taekwondo(Paralympics/Deaflympics/Special Olympics).

4)International Black Belt (Dan/Degree) Rank for Abled & Disabled Taekwondo(Paralympics/Deaflympics/Special Olympics).

We are accepting ranks from the following: Jidokwan, Muduck kwan, Chungdokwan, Odokwan, Jungmookwan, Jungdokwan.  Welcome to traditional Korean Kwan/International Taekwondo Federation. 

Once you are promoted in all of the above Certifications, you are authorized to go to the World Championship: Abled Taekwondo & Disabled Taekwondo (Paralympic/Deaflympic/Special Olympic) in South Korea to compete in Sparring, Poomsae, or participate as a Coach or International Referee(Example - World Taekwondo Federation{WTF}).  Recognized by International Olympic committee - Same thing as Korea Taekwondo Association for the Disabled (Paralympic/Deaflympic/Special Olympic) Sparring.  Recognized by the International Paralympic Committee.

The USA Taekwondo Association for the Disabled is a non-profit corporation recognized by the Korea Taekwondo Association for the Disabled and is a Member of the International Paralympic Committee.
